In August Armenia celebrates 13 years of independence from the Soviet Union, but independence has had a price. This new photographic exhibition is a fascinating record of a people resilient to a history of conflict and disaster. Photographer Paul Mellor visited Armenia while his wife Kathy, a neonatal nurse practitioner, and midwife Ethel Burns of Oxford Brookes University were carrying out training for midwives, nurses and doctors in the region. Paul's images highlight the difficulties faced by these people as they continue to rebuild their lives.
